Lifeline Family Center

Published on March 14, 2012

Home

A Place Where Shattered Dreams Can
Be Changed to a Promising Future.

In Exodus we read of God building the tabernacle through the efforts of His servant Moses. In 2 Chronicles 3, the account begins of the Temple God built through His servant King Solomon. And in chapter 24, His servant King Joash rebuilt the edifice. Even now the King of Kings is preparing mansions for us in heaven. God is always involved in a building program somewhere on earth or in heaven!

“In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.”      John 14:2

Scripture mandate for Lifeline Family Center is Isaiah 58:12b

9 Then you will call, and the LORD will answer;
you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.
“If you do away with the yoke of oppression,
with the pointing finger and malicious talk,

10 and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry
and satisfy the needs of the oppressed,
then your light will rise in the darkness,
and your night will become like the noonday.

11 The LORD will guide you always;
he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land
and will strengthen your frame.
You will be like a well-watered garden,
like a spring whose waters never fail.

12 Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins
and will raise up the age-old foundations;
*you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls,
Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.
Isaiah 58:9-12

MISSION STATEMENT

Lifeline Family Center offers a positive alternative to abortion, giving both mother and baby hope for the future.

VISION

Lifeline Family Center is a home dedicated to saving the unborn, and providing young women in unplanned pregnancies with a comprehensive educational program in a safe secure Christian home. Our goal is to enable them to redirect their lives and become self-supporting within two years after the birth of their child. We are unique in that we are not only concerned with saving a baby from abortion, but also with saving the child from a life of poverty and neglect. We care as much about the mother as we do the child, and our program addresses the needs of both. A young woman coming to Lifeline Family Center is given the gift of hope by our providing her a home, scholarship opportunities and care for her child while she pursues an education for a career. This allows her to become self-supporting. It is our hope to introduce her to, or reacquaint her, with the unconditional love of Jesus Christ. Lifeline Family Center provides services without the assistance of governmental agencies. We strive to operate according to biblical principles in providing the highest standards of life and education for our residents. We have a parenting educational curriculum to provide assistance to teenage parents and their families. The activities of this corporation shall not attempt to influence legislation or political campaigns. Lifeline Family Center will work toward expanding into a larger home serving as a pattern for other maternity homes in other locations.

Camp Hebron

Published on February 28, 2012

Setting

Camp Hebron is a year round Christian Camp and retreat center located on the side of Peters Mountain in Powell’s valley, just 20 miles north of Harrisburg, PA. Camp Hebron covers 340 acres, including large tracts of undeveloped woodland with hiking and nature trails. Scenery ranges from peaceful woodland scenes to beautiful mountain vistas on the famous Appalachian Trail which borders the camp.

Statement of Faith

Camp Hebron is dedicated to Christian service in the Anabaptist tradition. We believe in one God eternally existing as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe that He created a perfect world as revealed in Genesis and that sin entered the world causing the fall of man. As a result of this fall, God sent Jesus Christ as redeemer and Lord of all. We believe that God has revealed Himself in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament, the inspired word of God. We believe that the life of Jesus provides the model for our lives and that our primary commission is to share the good news of the gospel with all.

Our Purpose/Mission

Camp Hebron’s vision is to be a Christ-centered sanctuary where people find renewal and growth through recreation, teaching and fellowship in God’s creation. The camp is holy ground located on the other side of the mountain, a world away. Whether you are here for a retreat, summer camp or with a rental group, it is a great place to quiet yourself and hear God’s voice.

History

Camp Hebron was founded in 1957 by a group of Lancaster County Mennonites who had a vision for a camping ministry geared toward urban youth in the Harrisburg/Lancaster/Reading vicinity. They located a site on the North side of Peters Mountain in beautiful Powell’s Valley, took a step of faith and Camp Hebron was born. In the early 60s the camp built cabins and expanded the focus to include children from the various Mennonite churches. In the early 70s the Sylvan View Retreat Center was built to accommodate ministry to families and church groups. Over the years the clientele has expanded to include many Christian denominations and all age groups. The facility has grown and expanded to now include four camping areas to meet a variety of tastes and styles including tent camping, shelters, cabins and motel-like rooms. While much has changed over the years, the initial vision to be a place where all people can come to know Jesus in a personal and profound way while enjoying Christian fellowship and the beautiful natural creation has remained constant.
Our Staff

More than 30 committed Christians are employed in year-round ministry, with an additional 65 persons joining the staff for the summer program.

Our Association

As a nonprofit Christian organization, Camp Hebron desires to be a Christ-centered place where lives are changed. It is owned by the Camp Hebron Association consisting of over 600 members who support the ministry with time, finances, and direction. The Board of Directors, consisting of nine men and women serve three-year terms as elected from the Association membership. For more information regarding Association Membership Information, visit our Association Membership Page.
Our Guests

Camp Hebron welcomes all seeking hearts to use our programs and facilities. They come from all Christian denominations and walks of life. We welcome diversity and enjoy interacting with persons from a variety of ethnic backgrounds and experiences. Each year about 3,500 individuals attend the camp’s programs with many more enjoying the beautiful setting through facility rentals. In light of the fact that Camp Hebron is a dedicated Christian ministry, we do reserve the right to decline requests for facilities to groups whose purpose is inconsistent with Camp Hebron’s expressed mission and purpose.

Oasis United Methodist Church – Pleasantville, NJ

Published on February 25, 2012

Oasis United Methodist Church is a multi-generational, bi-lingual Hispanic/Latino church located in the city of Pleasantville NJ. The ministry of Oasis started 20 years ago as an outreach mission. They became an incorporated church in the year 2000 and acquired their own building in the year 2008. During the past 2 ½ years, and after a time of significant decline, Oasis has been going through an intense time of renewal and re-visioning towards the future. Currently, worship attendance average is up from 52 to 112 people on Sundays. Their renewed vision for ministry has taken members out to the streets to do mission work in the name of Jesus Christ. Oasis started a Food Pantry that is already serving an average of 80 families a month. Also, once a month, women and youth from the congregation work together and bring a warm meal to the homeless in the Atlantic City area. They started a Kidz Club that runs every other month and reaches out to an average of 45 children in the community. During the summer, they now have many events for the children and youth: VBS, Fun Nights, Water Splash afternoons, and a community-wide Back to School Celebration with more than 600 hundred in attendance.

As Pastor Hector A. Burgos explains, Oasis’ growth and sense of hope about the future is based on a renewed understanding of their mission and vision for ministry, along with new leadership recruitment, training and mentoring. Also, the congregation is growing in the practices of radical hospitality, passionate and relevant worship, intentional faith development, risky evangelism and community outreach; and in their understanding of stewardship and extravagant generosity.
